Are You A Write-A-Holic?

Okay so, this is my 31,000th online article, supposedly some sort of silly world record. Of course, that isn’t saying much because there isn’t a lot of competition to go out and write 31,000 articles – more or less I am competing against myself these days. Many of my friends think I am crazy and my keyboard no longer has any letters on the keys, and I am on my 12th version of Dragon Speak voice software.

So, how many words are in 31,000 articles and 188 eBooks anyway? Well, I don’t know for sure, but last estimate was 10.5 million words. Yep, I guess my friends are correct I am nuts, crazy as they say. Interestingly enough, there have been academic research papers on prolific writers, and it turns out writing can be very therapeutic. In fact, if someone has PTSD or some terrible adversity to get over in their life writing helps tremendously. Yes, I’ve written about that too. Indeed, I’ve written so much I am running out of things to write about.

Well, I guess that is part of the reason I am writing this article. You see, I need your help. I need more things to write about and desperately need more interesting topics. So if you have a passion for something, a worthy cause, or a fascinating insight into anything under the Sun or part of the human endeavor, please share it with me below in the comment section.

Now then, I’d like to talk to you about this Writing Addiction;

“Hello, My name is Lance and I am a write-a-holic.”

Unfortunately, there is not 13-step program for people like me, but I am certain I am not alone. You know what’s funny about all this? You see, others complain about “writer’s block” but in reality they are the lucky ones, imagine having so many things in your head you just cannot stop writing, and you never seem to run out of things to write about – scary right? Indeed.

My only hope to cure this writing addiction of mine is to run out of things to think about, talk about and write about. But, when that happens, what will I do? I cannot imagine at this point, stopping, just quitting like Forrest Gump did. Hard to say, what will any of us write-a-holics do if we can’t write anymore? I mean we won’t be allowed to come up with “fake news” as it sounds like they are making a law against it soon.

Nevertheless, I guess in a way we are lucky that there is always something happening somewhere in the world to talk about, something to observe and report on, some worthy advice or insight to give.

Maybe we are needed, well until artificial intelligence takes over and we are no longer needed. Somehow though, I bet we just keep on writing, even if the AI systems can put out millions of times more pages than all of us together, and until then, let’s give the machines a run for their money.

In closing – to my fellow online article writers and write-a-holics out there – I just want to say – keep up the great work because if there is one thing I love more than writing, it is learning new things – and I need you to keep writing so I can keep learning.

What will you write today? Make it something great, I can’t wait to read it.
